Accredited Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory

In 1974, we (WRPI) have a temporary task-oriented laboratory and perform investigations and experiments for public construction, afterward the laboratory officially found in 1977.

Until 1991, due to business growth, it was divided into the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory and provided the quality control testing for the domestic significant water resources, river coast, irrigation, and drainage surveys. In 2006, the Water Resources Agency instructed the Water Resources Planning Institute (WRPI) to seek for specialized accreditation to advance the earthwork inspection and testing for the Hushan Reservoir project and cooperate with the follow-up domestic public infrastructure.

Therefore, the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory got accreditation from Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) (shown in Figure 1) and established the "Hushan Reservoir on-site Laboratory." In 2015, we provided service for the dike of the Jhongjhung Artificial Lake Project, and set the " Jhongjhung Artificial Lake on-site Laboratory." The Naio-Zuei-Tan Artificial Lake Quality Inspection Program is the main task now.

At present, there are 16 approved earthwork tests (shown in Table 1), and other certificated tests will include depending on the project requirement. At the current stage, we only perform the testing service within the commissioned tasks of the Water Resources Agency.
