“Delving into Shui Lian Dong” – The exhibition of IoT technology applied to water resources management

Publish Date: 2019-12-17

The exhibition “Delving into Shui Lian Dong”, jointly organized by the Water Resources Agency and the advocacy group of public Internet of Things, was initiated on December 17th at the special exhibition room on the southwest side of the National Taiwan Science Education Center 8F in Taipei. Through interactive and static exhibitions, the public gets familiar with the application of the IoT technique to water resources management and disaster prevention. The exhibition will take place until January 7th, 2020, and we will like to welcome you to the exhibition.

The exhibition was inaugurated at 10 am on December 17th. Students and teachers from the Nanhu Elementary School visited the exhibition and participated in challenge games, joyfully took photo with the officials from the Water Resources Agency and water babies (as show in Fig. 1). A group photo was taken when the exhibition “Delving into Shui Lian Dong” started on the augurating day (as show in Fig. 2). Students from the Nanhu Elementary School learned about the knowledge of the IoT technique application to water resources management (as show in Fig. 3). The director of Water Resources Planning Institute explained the contingency notification system(as show in Fig. 4).

Within recent years, intensified rainfall events have frequently caused flooding disasters. In order to instantly discern the flooding conditions, execute contingency measures, and effectively lower public losses, the exhibition displays multiple systems that allow the public to acquire information on the flooding potentials, water heights, and flooding notifications. For instance, one can inform the local flooding depth during heavy rainfall events through the application “Mobile Water APP” installed in personal cell phone. Moreover, one can also detect the water depth through “Line Bot Flood Prevention Robot” during flooding, and the robot will automatically report this information. The public is encouraged to participate in the flood prevention actions, so that the government can have an instant awareness of local flooding conditions and execute timely mitigation plan.
