In the process of physical model construction, hydraulic structures such as bridges, weirs, and grade control works are often involved. Traditionally, these models were customized using materials like wood, acrylic, or plastic CNC cutting.
To advance hydraulic model testing and modeling techniques, we have procured a large-scale 3D printer with a printing range of up to 1m x 1m x 1m. This printer will assist in constructing hydraulic physical models in the future, including piers, bridges, weirs, grade control works, and other hydraulic structures. Two-dimensional CAD drawings can be transformed into three-dimensional models and produced using the 3D printer, which reduces the need for outsourcing custom manufacturing. The 3D printing technology enhances flexibility and shortens production time, making it a valuable new tool for model construction.
