October 8th, 2024, we were honored to welcome St. Vincent’s Deputy Prime Minister Montgomery Daniel to the Water Resources Agency's hydraulic model facility in Xindian! We introduced the history of flood management in the Tamsui River basin, from river surveys conducted since early 1900s to the post-war construction of various water infrastructure projects for flood control and water resource management, such as the Yuansantze Flood Diversion, Erchong Floodway, Shihmen Reservoir, and Feitsui Reservoir.
The Deputy Prime Minister shared their concerns about water shortages due to climate change. We discussed Taiwan's efforts, such as groundwater, spring water, and desalination plants, reservoir interconnections, desilting tunnels, smart monitoring, and public participation to address similar challenges.
