The Water Resources Agency’s administered “Zhongzhuang artifical lake project” is executed by the Northern Region Water Resources Office(NRWRO),where the inspection of earthwork quality in the project (Phase 1) is performed with the assistance from the Water Resources Planning Institute(WRPI) by setting up an on-site laboratory.
In order to smooth execution of the project, the Institute, after setting up an on-site laboratory at the Engineering office of the NRWRO, had prepared the applications in writing, and planned on the relocation, adjustment and calibration of instruments and equipment and personnel training according to Taiwan Accreditation Foundation(TAF) regulations, and applied for certification of the on-site laboratory at Zhongzhuang Artifical Lake on July 1st, 2015. When TAF members finished their on-site evaluation, the Institute was awarded the certificate on Oct. 20st, 2015 to actively conduct tests as the project proceeds. (as shown in Figure 1)
The Institute performs the tasks of soil tests by NRWRO specifications for inspection. In parallel to the progress of the work, which is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2017, the Institute performs the tasks of quality control. The control quantities are as follows: 136 sets Atterberg limit and index test, 60 sets test of content of smaller-than 75μm particles in aggregate, 1561 sets aggregate screening test, 112 sets soil grain size test, 97 sets soil classification test, 899 sets minimum & maximum index soil density test, 1648 sets field soil density test , 10 sets soil compaction test, and 750 sets Rapid Determination of percent Compaction method test of soil compaction .
The Project was brought onto the right track in least time thanks to all the coworkers at the laboratory making efforts. Also, the Institute successfully delivered the tasks assigned to it based on the credibility, quality and professionalism for specialized laboratory, enabling artificial lake not later than June 2017.
